After left with permanent scars due to her botched lip filler, a 24-year old mother warned other women to avoid undergoing cheap cosmetic surgery procedures. Hailing from the town of Hempel Hempstead in Hertfordshire, Siana O’Connor had become obsessed with the cosmetic surgery trend due to social media and had decided to opt for the procedure. The full time mother said that while using social media, she had begun to notice that many of the influencers, celebrities as well as her friends were opting for lip filler procedures.
Siana felt under pressure to undergo the procedure when she saw a great number of people doing so. It wasn’t very difficult for her to take the plunge because plastic surgery has become readily available these days. She stated that her friends had told her all her life that she didn’t really need lip fillers, but then she saw people like Kylie Jenner getting it done. However, she had gotten insecure about her top lip when she saw that other were doing it. She had felt that her top lip was smaller than the bottom one. Once she had made up her mind to get the procedure done, Siana was recommended a beautician who was performing cheap lip fillers.
She disclosed that she had gotten her first filler in April 2016 and soon, she went back for more. Siana said that once she saw the results, she found it really addictive and was traveling for miles to get it done. She continued to get her top ups until she became pregnant and had to take a year off. Once her son, Levi, was born, she decided to go for another filler this year in April. But, what happened next completely changed her outlook in regard to cosmetic surgery. She stated that she immediately began to feel that something was wrong because her lips started swelling up.
Even after a week, the swelling didn’t go down. Her lips became went white and became badly discolored. She searched online and discovered that it was because of lack of blood circulation. Siana said that bubbles of puss developed on her lips and they made it difficult for her to touch her lops and opening her mouth to eat was excruciating. After experiencing this much pain, she went to A&E to get her lips checked and was told to go to the place where she had gotten the fillers from. She went to the woman who had given her the injections and was told that it was a bad infection so she had to take steroids and antibiotics. She had to take 10 to 12 pills in a day for this purpose. Things didn’t get better for her even after that.
In fact, it got worse after that because the bubbles begin to burst and puss started leaking. Her lips even developed a couple of holes. Eventually, she had to press her lips in order to get rid of the puss. Even after a couple of years, Siana still feels the painful effects and her lips are now permanently scarred, unless she decides to undergo further surgery to get rid of the scarring. She said that it came as a shock to her because she had advocated cosmetic surgery a lot, but would never recommend them now and had been told not to get them done anymore.
Instead, she had begun to accept her natural lips and has now chosen to warn others against these cheap procedures. Siana now recommends that a trained doctor should be consulted and research should be done by everyone before undergoing any procedure related to cosmetic surgery.
She admitted that she regretted her decision and because of it, she had developed social anxiety and stopped going out. She said that the pain was awful and it had become so severe that even working became difficult for her. Siana said that she had been looking at others and had gotten something that she didn’t want in the first place. She also warned others not to go for cosmetic surgery because it is such a popular trend. She also said that people should remember that they get what they pay for and going cheap is not the answer.
